Berlin, Germany

The last part of Robbie's trip was spent in Berlin. Berlin is a city totally different than any I had seen yet in Europe. It definitely wasn't beautiful like Italy or Paris, but the history and stories behind everything was so intriguing. I really liked it.

We had two days and three nights there, one of which was Robbie's birthday!!

The first day we went to the Berlin Zoo. It's the biggest zoo in Europe and it was really cool, but later we regretted going here and not spending more time around the city and seeing more monuments.

We did get some cool pictures of the animals (mostly of the elephants & monkeys because those are mine & Robbie's favorites). We also got a video of some of the elephants playing. Be fore-warned that Robbie is a little inappropriate in what he is saying in the background haha.. he was trying to be funny :)

The next day we spent most of the day taking a tour of the city. We had a tour guide and usually I get really bored with these types of things, but like I said, the history was so cool and interesting that I loved it.. we saw so much of the city & learned so much.
We first went to Brandenburg Gate

This picture is at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Although there are just a bunch of cement cubes, the concept of the design and how I felt while walking through really coincide with what you should be feeling and thinking about while in the memorial. Click here for the website & to learn more about the idea behind the design

Checkpoint Charlie. Which is really just all a fake tourist trap. Cool nonetheless.

This may just look like a crappy picture (it actually kinda is) BUT that wall is part of the BERLIN WALL that remains standing. So interesting, so much history.

A museum on Museum Island
Later that night we went to the Foster the People Concert!! I was in a really run-down bar in a really weird area of town. When our taxi driver dropped us off and pointed us in the direction in which we needed to walk we were so confused (and I was scared) but we did what he told us (which may have been stupid on our part) BUT luckily it was the right place! The concert was so much fun!

Besides the unexpecting FREEZING cold weather, I really liked Berlin. It was so different than anywhere I had been before and the food was really good :)

Ciao, Erica xo
